Aamir's Satyamev Jayate yet to crack the targetted Segment

During the month of May Aamri Khan’s  debut TV show is making waves across the nation.  This was a comeback of “watching TV together on Sunday morning” – the prime slot before the MTV culture griped the nation.
It gained a sudden spurt of support on the social media sites and a TRP good enough to please the advertisers. Everybody wanted to be first to make a comment on Twitter and Facebook. . So it was not a surprise that the show garnered overall rating of 4.27 TVR (including terrestrial of DD) in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad, reports Indiantelevision.com.

The show is simultaneously being aired on many channels including Star Plus, Star Pravah (Marathi), DD National, Star Utsav, ETV (Telugu), Vijay (Tamil), Star Jalsha (Bengali), Star World (English) and Asianet (Malayalam).  According to to the data provided by TAM Media Research  the program reached to 8.96 million people in the age group of 4+.
Choosing so many channels together was with the objective to reach out  to have wider range of viewership specially in B Class towns. Here, the objective is not met as the data suggest that program is  a hit amongst the drawing rooms of big cities, but  is considered a boring dose in the targeted segment. The fact remains that the issues raised by SMJ are those for which lack of social awareness is the main culprit. The conservative  approach  of Indian middle class and  indifferent  law and order has taken us to this point.
The issue raised by him reminds of  a show, long back in 90s on DD, called “Rajni”. The issue, content  and  presentation are different but the appeal to touch viewer’s at their heart is same.  Let us hope the fate of this show will not be same as that of Rajni.

Are Politicians above Censor Board?

Prakash Jha`s Amitabh, Saif, Manoj and Deepika starrer, `Aarakshan` at last reached the screen all over India except three states of Punjab, Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. The film has highlighted the evils on the screen as well as off the screen. The film story is based on caste and reservation in the higher education system in the country, and the ills that beset it.

Off the screen it has shown that no political party honours judgment of constitutionally formed institutes like censor board if it can get any mileage out of the contempt. The film passed without any cuts by censor board met with political road blocks. Besides the three state governments banning the release, any body who could catch media footage was ready to jump and oppose the screening of film.

Saif and Dipika in Aarakshan
Social activist and actress Shabana Azmi wrote on Twitter. "Am outraged that in spite of censor certificate, different groups are trying to prevent its release. Of what use is the Censor Board if after it certifies a film, different groups can prevent it from being released without even watching it! (sic),"

Many who opposed, including former union minister Lalu Yadav, had not even seen the film. Noted filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt tweeted, "We can't allow politicians to stop the release of Prakash Jha's Aarakshan!"

Such protests have resulted in financial loss to the producer. With the star cast and film script the it was expecting a grand opening. But, the opening of Aarakshan was below the mark on day one due to bans in Punjab, UP and Andhra. The first day due to this ban lost around 1.25 crore. From the territory of Mumbai and Delhi/UP were 1.75 crore and 54 lakhs respectively. The all India collections on first two days were estimated to around 10.00 to 10.50 crores.

After Munni, Sheila and Jalebi its Priyanka Chopra

At last Priyanka Chopra has also changed her decision to never do an item number, she would follow Sheila and Munni in a glamorous dance in Priyadarshan’s forthcoming film Tezz on a number scored by Sajid-Wajid.

Seductive gyration is now a compulsory recipe of bollywood films. Earlier, she had announced that she’d never join the item number bandwagon. Changing mind won’t help the actress in anyway except making a few more bucks.

Priyanka Chopra, already has many a sexy number under her belt. In past she has done a sexy song in Aitraaz – “Touch Me Baby” Also,an item number with Shah Rukh Khan in Billu. PC has a glamorous image and has been getting good dance numbers so deviation to solo items was not desired.

But, now media reports claim that Priyanka has shown keen interest in the item song as well. The dance in Tezz would be shot in Mumbai. A special set will be created to make this item number more bigger and better than Munni of Dabangg and Tees Maar Khan’s Sheila.

If lyrics are catchy and music is dancy, PC is no inferior to Malaika, Mallika or Katrina. So after Munni, Sheila and Jalebi its PC’s number to glue the audience. Anil Kapoor, Ajay Devgan and Kangna Ranaut are in the lead role of Tezz.
